Gum Disease Treatment – Fairfield, OH
Treat Infected Gums Without Surgery
As dental plaque and tartar attack the teeth, they can do substantial damage to your supporting gum tissue as well. This can lead to discomfort, inflammation, swelling, and tenderness in the gums, making it more difficult to enjoy your favorite foods and maintain positive oral health. At Dr. Dine’s dental office, we have multiple treatments available that not only stop the progression of gum disease, but do not require surgery to complete. Set up an appointment by giving our dental office a call for gum disease treatment in Fairfield, OH!
Why Choose Andrew Dine, DDS for Gum Disease Treatment?
- Modern Technology in a Relaxing Dental Office
- Complimentary Nitrous Oxide Available for Nervous Patients
- Antibiotic Therapy Provided to Stop Gum Disease Progression
Neither at-home oral care nor a standard cleaning is enough to remove all plaque and tartar causing your gum disease (especially in the deep pockets in between teeth that have formed as a result.) Scaling involves removing plaque and tartar from all areas of the mouth, especially underneath the gum line. Root planing requires Dr. Dine to smooth out the tooth roots so they can better attach to the gums. Keep in mind that most cases of deep cleaning will require multiple visits to our dental office.
As part of your gum therapy, we’ll apply an antibiotic to the pockets in between your gum tissue. Over time, the antibiotic will slowly release into your gums and dissolve on their own before your next follow-up appointment. Antibiotic therapy is designed to both stop the spread of future infection as well as allow healing to take place. After a few months of healing, you’ll come back to the dental office to complete an exam, allowing us to confirm if the treatment is working as planned.
Taking care of your gums is a 24/7 job. It’s important for you to be able to protect your mouth on your own while undergoing gum disease treatment. To give you the tools you need, we may recommend the Zellies Complete Mouth Care System. It involves using a number of different products that have been proven to help prevent and reverse cavities and gum disease. We’re glad to take any questions you have about the system and how it can help you.
