Understanding How Dental Insurance Works
Dental insurance is different from regular medical insurance. The latter primarily focuses on providing coverage for treatment after you’ve already been injured. With dental insurance, the goal is primarily to prevent common dental issues such as tooth decay from occurring at all; that way both you and your insurance company will save money on complex dental treatments later down the road. Hence, your plan will most likely offer the most coverage for dental checkups and other preventive services.
What Your Dental Insurance Plan Covers
As far as dental insurance goes, many policies follow a 100-80-50 structure. This generally means 100% coverage for preventive care, 80% coverage for minor restorations (such as fillings) and 50% coverage for major restorations (such as crowns). Elective procedures (which cosmetic dentistry is generally classified as) are usually not covered. Of course, every plan is different; we can go over your benefits with you to make sure that you understand them.
We Offer In-Network Savings & Welcome Out-of-Network Providers
We are in-network with a variety of plans while also welcoming out-of-network plans. The distinction between the two is very simple: being in-network means that we’ve agreed to provide services at rates decided by the insurance company, allowing you to enjoy the highest amount of savings possible. Patients who are out-of-network can still expect to receive benefits once we’ve filed the necessary claim paperwork with your company. Don’t be afraid to call and ask if we take your insurance!
We are in-network with the following providers:
